New Year, New Skin Care Goals!

It's definitely not too late to DETOX those old, bad habits away.

I'm going to a Vision Board Party and I want to include my 2018 Skin Care Goals. This is my first year to include skin care. Taking care of myself has always been important to me, but I can't remember a time that I was serious enough to write down goals. I'm not exactly sure why.  I literally own tons of empty notebooks to write down ideas, things to remember, prioritize my workload, etc. It's really unacceptable but I'm now all about Self-care!

French Green Clay

French Green Clay

Over the last few years, I've fallen in love with detox clays. Rose, French Green, Bentonite, and Activated Charcoal to be specific. When I started using the detox clays, in which I also call Beauty Mask, they significantly decreased the number of breakouts on my face, chest, back, and Gina. TMI, but I get waxed and must treat the V to control ingrown hairs. That's another blog for another day! The more consistent I was, the less chance a blemish would appear! If you haven't used one before, here are a few reasons you may want to consider it!

Detox clays help pull impurities underneath the skin to the surface. It literally acts like a magnet to pull the dirt up.

It's important to choose the right detox clay for your skin type. I only use it once a week. Specifically for me, I've renamed Sunday to Detox Sundays. Naturally, on Sundays, I automatically think, "I need to detox last week worries away and start fresh." I like to buy the clays in its dry form because there is nothing mixed in to take away its purity. The clay does eventually have to be combined with a liquid to make a paste for application. I've used water, aloe vera gel, witch hazel, and oils like Sweet Almond. My favorite is probably Aloe Vera gel. It seems to provide a consistent feel with all the clays.

Every skin type is different, and I recommend trying a few different things until you find something that works!

  • Rose Clay is a soft pink clay and recommended for sensitive skin;
  • Bentonite Clay is grey in color and one of the most popular clays available. It is recommended for oily skin;
  • French Green Clay is green and more absorbent than the previous two clays. It is recommended for exfoliation and pore tightening;
  • Activated Charcoal is black and has recently increased in popularity over the last few years. It is suitable for all skin types but it is very absorbent to those who already have dry skin.

Detoxing your way to better skin this year is very possible. We have to be specific about how we are going to achieve our skincare goals. Let's simply start by getting started and writing down what we will accomplish this year.
